The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy-book review!

      I was excited to receive The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy to read and actually try the diet.It sounded so promising,and I was willing to try ANYTHING that might work.You see,I have somewhat of a thyroid problem,which makes it much more difficult to lose weight.Thank goodness for levothyroxine,but even with the medicine it is hard.I call it an "artificial" metabolism.I was fairly sure that I couldn't BOOST my artificial metabolism,but I was willing to try.
      I started reading the book as soon as it arrived,slowly,but surely.It's a very easy read with lots of meal maps,meal schedules,food lists and so on.My favorite part of the whole book hands down is the recipe section in the back of the book.It saved me time and time again from going off the diet,and if you follow the rules,you should lose 20 pounds in 28 days!
     Haylie Pomoroy's premise is that by keeping your metabolism guessing in this way,you'll get it to work faster.You may also improve your blood sugar,cholesterol and more at the same time!The diet is divided into phases:

              Phase 1 (Monday-Tuesday) Lots of carbs and fruits
              Phase 2 (Wednesday-Thursday) Lots of proteins and veggies
              Phase 3 (Friday-Sunday) All of the above plus healthy fats and oils.


    The one thing that I found the most difficult on this diet was the water I had to drink on a daily basis.The author writes that we must drink half our weight in water ounces daily.I'll give you an example,if you weigh 150 pounds, you have to drink 75 fluid ounces of water daily.I found this impossible,but I did the best I could.
    Finally,I weighed myself after the 28 days.I dropped 6.2 pounds,and I was happy! Obviously, people with normal metabolisms would lose a lot more weight.I'm satisfied :)

Horrible Experience

What a day!I did what I always do on Saturdays.I also picked up my father from his social club and I got ready to relax while he stayed downstairs to transplant his cucumber seedlings.Next thing I know,my doorbell rings.I look out the balcony door and I see these strangers.I ask what is going on and she asks me if I'm related to this man.I ask why.She says that he fell down.I practically FLEW down the stairs and out the front.My father was on the floor on his back but he seemed fine.He's such a heard-headed person that he REFUSED help to get up from anyone but me.I took his hands and he got up very easily.I asked him how it happened and if he was ok."Yes! He shouted,I just fell!"Then he tells me to plant the cucumber plants and to water all the plants.The he asked,"Didn't you hear me yelling for you???"."No dad,I didn't hear you from 2 floors up with the television on".One of these days he's going to give me a heart attack.

Silver Screen Night Club reunion!

      I remember like it was yesterday.All throughout my college years Silver Screen used to be my form of release and entertainment.I used to go at least three times weekly,have a few drinks and dance all night long  with friends,relatives and my then boyfriend.The music was freestyle,not disco as I have read.There was no violence or drugs EVER,just good people having a great time.Many people ,like myself, were very sad to see it go.
  About a month ago,I stumbled across an invitation to a Silver Screen reunion on Facebook and my mouth dropped. I immediately responded "Going".Unfortunately it wasn't to be at the original spot where it used to be,but at club Central.It wasn't EXACTLY the same because it isn't as big as Silver Screen was,there were no speakers to dance on(like we used to) and the "bartenders" kept messing up my drinks! I mean severely messing them up! If you can't make a Sex on the Beach,then you're not a bartender,and they probably weren't.They kept making me a Woowoo instead.Oh well.The music was FANTASTIC and you didn't see many people sitting.It was great to run into people I haven't seen in a while as well.I wouldn't mind a bit if Silver Screen re-opened,with better bartenders,of course.Come on Silver Screen!We miss you!

      It's funny that all throughout school I dreaded the reading assignments,but now I love to pick up a good book to read before bed.I think it must have been because they were chosen for me, and I had to run around to find them and read them in 2 days.Times were really tough before e-readers were invented.
     I caught site of The X by Lorena Bathey on Tomoson and I knew I wanted to read it.I was lucky to be chosen for a book review and I received a copy autographed by the author herself! So cool,right?
    It took me two evenings to read The X only because I read it in bed and I was very tired.I really wanted to keep going,to find out what happens,but the first night I was so exhausted that I fell asleep and the book dropped from my hands.The book is actually a very easy read,but you will want to read it in one day because of all the mystery and suspense!
   The X is about a woman named Clarissa Hadonfield,a wife of 20 years and mother to two sons.One day out of nowhere she receives divorce papers at the door! Clarissa winds up hiring Bryce Brightman,an ex-FBI agent to find out what is going on with Ben,her husband. Bryce helps Clarissa to find her physical strength to fight to get her sons back.
   As I was reading The X, I thought of a good friend of mine who also received divorce papers at the door.The X portrays a very possible scenario besides being a form of entertainment. That is just one of the reasons that I recommend The X to everyone,the other being that it was jam-packed full of action,adventure and mystery.Pick up a copy today!!
