The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy-book review!
I was excited to receive The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy to read and actually try the diet.It sounded so promising,and I was willing to try ANYTHING that might work.You see,I have somewhat of a thyroid problem,which makes it much more difficult to lose weight.Thank goodness for levothyroxine,but even with the medicine it is hard.I call it an "artificial" metabolism.I was fairly sure that I couldn't BOOST my artificial metabolism,but I was willing to try.
I started reading the book as soon as it arrived,slowly,but surely.It's a very easy read with lots of meal maps,meal schedules,food lists and so on.My favorite part of the whole book hands down is the recipe section in the back of the book.It saved me time and time again from going off the diet,and if you follow the rules,you should lose 20 pounds in 28 days!
Haylie Pomoroy's premise is that by keeping your metabolism guessing in this way,you'll get it to work faster.You may also improve your blood sugar,cholesterol and more at the same time!The diet is divided into phases:
Phase 1 (Monday-Tuesday) Lots of carbs and fruits
Phase 2 (Wednesday-Thursday) Lots of proteins and veggies
Phase 3 (Friday-Sunday) All of the above plus healthy fats and oils.
The one thing that I found the most difficult on this diet was the water I had to drink on a daily basis.The author writes that we must drink half our weight in water ounces daily.I'll give you an example,if you weigh 150 pounds, you have to drink 75 fluid ounces of water daily.I found this impossible,but I did the best I could.
Finally,I weighed myself after the 28 days.I dropped 6.2 pounds,and I was happy! Obviously, people with normal metabolisms would lose a lot more weight.I'm satisfied :)
